Tooting resident and writer Johnny Wright has adapted Jacqueline Wilson's book 'Little Darlings' for TV.

Wright was joined by fellow writer Nathan Bryon to write the live-action, comedy drama mini-series.

The show will star chart-topping artists Lemar and Jamelia with original music from the former.

'Little Darlings' is a four-part mini series about 11-year-old Destiny who longs to meet her dad, rock star Danny Kilman (Lemar) but he doesn't know she exists.

Destiny lives in a flat in Birmingham with her mum Kate (Jamelia), who agrees it's time to meet her dad.

Johnny spoke to Tooting Newsie and said: "It was also fantastic to have one of my best friends, Ian Aryeh, direct – he did a fantastic job. It was amazing to work with all the great talent involved and it was refreshing that the show was diverse both in front and behind the camera; long may this continue."

'Little Darlings' will be available from February, 11 on Sky Kids and streaming service NOW and will be available on-demand for customers across the UK and ROI.
