A pub in Tooting received hundreds of bookings in the twenty-four hours following the government's road map announcement.

The Selkirk, situated on Selkirk Road, is feeling positive about the number of bookings they've received so quickly.

Manager Ben Ashcroft told Nub News: "It's really great to see people wanting to come back after such a tough year.

"While we're remaining sceptical that things can change, it does seem like this could be the light at the end of the tunnel."

The pub has taken bookings from April 12th and is hoping to make the most of their new and improved outside space.

The Selkirk has also begun to get bigger bookings for birthdays and weddings.

Following an unfortunate string of cancellations in the Christmas period, one day with 66 people not turning up, the pub is urging customers to 'book responsibly'.

"I am obviously aware that things can change when booking two months in advance," Ben said.

"But we're hoping that people will be thoughtful of the business and let us know.

"Not only for us but for the people who want to get in and have a drink or dinner too."

The summer is looking to be jam-packed with televised entertainment that will be great for hospitality.

Major sporting events like The Euros and The Olympics will mean pubs like The Selkirk shouldn't have a dull day.
