Detectives investigating an arson attack on a south London barbers are appealing for witnesses and information.

Police were called at around 18.45hrs on Friday 27 August to the venue in Upper Tooting Road, SW17 to reports that a flammable liquid had been thrown at the property.

Officers attended to discover a small fire had started outside the venue. No significant damage was caused and no one was injured.

It is believed that following the incident, a male suspect ran from the scene into Brudenell Road where he got into a car and made off.

Investigating officers are releasing a CCTV clip of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

DC Richard Roberts, from the South West Command, said: "This was a highly reckless attack on a shop full of customers in broad daylight which could have devastating consequences. I would appeal to any members of the public who witnessed the incident, saw anything suspicious in the area at around that time, or who recognise the man in the footage to come forward."

Anyone with information is asked to contact 101, CAD 4703/28AUG21

Information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, by calling 0800 555 111.
