Tooting: Parkrun granted permission to return imminently
Tooting Parkrun is set to return imminently after it has received permission to resume.
Hundreds of Parkruns are to resume again from tomorrow onwards, however, Tooting Common Parkrun has had to wait on permission to use the land.
Now that permission has been granted, the organisation hopes to be up and running by next Saturday (July 31) if they can source enough volunteers.
A spokesperson said: "The good news we've all been waiting for, we have permission to restart.
"I'd like to thank Wandsworth, Enable and parkrun HQ for all the brilliant work they have done behind the scenes to get us here.
"If we get enough volunteers we will be aiming to have our first Tooting Common parkrun of the year on 31 July. So if you can volunteer that morning please have a look at the roster page and get in touch."
What is the parkrun
The parkrun is a free 5km timed run which happens on Tooting Common, SW16 1RT every week.
Usually, it happens on Saturdays at 9am, but due to the Covid-19 it has been halted.
The event is entirely run by volunteers and is for people of all abilities. People are encouraged to join in whatever their pace.
