An interactive map has launched which shows you where to get a takeaway pint in Tooting and surrounding areas.

In a time when the pub industry is falling victim to coronavirus restrictions, maps like these help residents to support local establishments and their new initiatives.

Created by Deserter, an online blog - the map marks all establishments currently offering takeaway pints as well as showing opening times and other information.

Andrew Grumbridge (AKA Dulwich Raider), the co-creator of Deserter, told Nub News:

"Anyone who knows Deserter knows that we love to wander the streets, mess about and end up with a delicious pint of ale somewhere. Then came Lockdown two and suddenly a walk was just exercise. Until we noticed the phenomenon of booze hatches.

"Little holes in walls, window sills with beer mats, trellis tables in doorways. The pint was alive and well - you just had to take it away with you.

"Yesterday, we put out a call on Twitter for places readers had spotted. Within minutes we had dozens of suggestions, which instead of visiting immediately, we grudgingly compiled into a map for the greater good.

"The page went live last night and had one thousand views within five minutes. It's quite clear to me that south London is, and remains, very thirsty."

Deserter describes itself as 'an aspirational lifestyle blog for slackers', it was founded back in 2014 by Andrew Grumbridge and Vince Raison.

Their book, Today South London, Tomorrow South London (Unbound, 2018) was an Amazon Travel Best Seller and The Evening Standard Comedy Book of the Year. A new book is planned for 2021.
