Tesco to ban shoppers who don't wear a mask

By The Editor 12th Jan 2021

Tesco has joined Sainsbury's, Morrisons, Asda and Waitrose by announcing today (Tuesday) that shoppers without a face covering will not be allowed to enter the premises.

The supermarket giant has two Tesco Express stores in Tooting and rules regarding mask-wearing will now apply as Covid restrictions tighten amid rising coronavirus cases.

And Tesco says it will also be using 'additional security'.

Stores nationwide are also encouraging people to shop alone to cut down the risk of spreading the virus.

A statement said: "We won't let anyone into stores not wearing a face-covering unless they are exempt.

"We are also asking customers to shop alone, unless they're a carer or with children.

"We will have additional security to help manage this".
