St George's Hospital unveils new space to support staff wellbeing
A new place for St George's staff to 'pause and recharge' has been created by award-winner interior design studio Hart Miller.
The area, tucked away in a quiet corner of Ingredients Restaurant, has been transformed thanks to joint funding from St George's Hospital Charity and St George's Trust, as well as funds from NHS Charities Together.
The refurbished space provides a comfortable and light filled area in which staff can relax.
The design features new contemporary furniture, planters that bring the outside in, and modern screens that create a sense of privacy.
The furniture is grouped for both social and private moments, such as sharing lunch around the large table, connecting with colleagues or taking time out.
"Wellbeing of staff within the NHS has always been important but perhaps never so high up on the agenda," said senior designer Stuart Watt.
"This space will enable critical moments of respite to a highly-valued workforce."
A bespoke artwork by local artist Supermundane, featuring his signature graphic style, completes the design, bringing both joyful and calming colour.
Amerjit Chohan, Chief Executive of St George's Hospital Charity, said:
"We are delighted to have been able to support St George's Hospital Trust to provide a new space where staff can escape their busy workplace and take a moment for themselves."
The project was supported by a team of suppliers brought together by Hart Miller including MARK Product, Tektura, Modus, Urban Planters, Phusei and Panaz.
