A secondary school in Tooting has started a fundraiser to provide every child in their care with a laptop.
FEBS (Friends of Ernest Bevin School) want to raise money to provide laptops so that children can continue their work independently should they have to self-isolate.
The school also feels that having a laptop will help disadvantaged children to catch up on missed education and not fall behind.
The school says that forty percent of their pupils apply for 'Pupil Premium', the Government's measure to identify children most in need of support.
A spokesperson for Ernest Bevin said: "We believe that by having access to a laptop of their own, these children from the most disadvantaged backgrounds will be able to keep up with their studies and maintain their relationships – which is vital for their long-term mental health - even if they should once again be affected by Covid-19."
The fundraiser has currently raised over £800 and is looking for over £4000 more.
The school has said that if they exceed their target, all money raised will go towards helping support children with additional pastoral care, such as counselling and other mental health services.
