Tooting residents have been speaking out against 'lazy' litterers who have been leaving coffee cups and rubbish across the Common.

The mess around the Common at different points in the day has been a constant talking point throughout lockdown.

Many residents have been calling for more bins around the area - as well as more frequent emptying times.

Hyde Farm Cafe, situated on Emmanuel Road, has defended claims that they're to blame for the increased rubbish.

Hyde Farm said: "We do encourage our guests to use reusable caps with £0.20 discount on their coffee each time they use it.

"We love to see common nice and clean and we try to do tidy up as much as we can."

Many people are saying that no one is to blame besides the 'lazy' people leaving the mess.

One resident said: "I don't think anyone is blaming the café for the irresponsible, entitled and downright lazy inconsiderate individuals who blight our Common everyday by littering.

"However, as a responsible business, the Café should be proactive and join in the litter picking that ordinary Balamites do every day, regardless of who's to blame for the thoughtless act of littering.

"I certainly don't want to live in a rubbish bin and have even taken to litter picking my own neighbourhoods because I am sick and tired of walking past McDonalds bags, masks, and tissues strewn about spoiling my daily dog walk."
