Lloyds Banking Group will be closing its branch in Balham.

The move will be one of 48 branches across the country that are set to close, with the group's estate on the decline.

Balham is the only one of its branches that is set to close in Wandsworth. Elsewhere in London, sites such as South Kensington, Muswell Hill and Kings Cross are also on the way out.

The branch already has a closing date, with Febraury 22 to be the last day that it will be open.

Vim Maru, the retail director the group, said: "Our branches remain a fundamental part of how we serve our customers but we need to ensure the size of our branch network reflects the number of customers wanting to use them."

This move is in addition to the plans in June to shut 44 sites.

Once all closures are complete the parent of the lenders will have 738 Lloyds Bank branches, 553 Halifax branches, and 184 Bank of Scotland branches.
