Japanese food vendor Hinata announced their departure from Tooting Broadway Market yesterday (Monday January, 11) afternoon via social media.

Messages of well wishes and sadness flooded in below the popular restaurant's account.

Hinata informed followers that they would be closing for good at the end of next week (Saturday January, 22) and urged fans to visit one last time.

They posted from their instagram account (@hinata_japanese_izakaya): "Hello friends, Hinata will be closing for good at the end of next week on Sat 22nd January.

"The decision has nothing to do with the impact of Covid or how the business has been doing generally.

"After 5 years we just feel that it's time for a change in scenery and we both have other dreams to pursue.

"We'll be forever grateful to you for all your support and generosity and to our amazing staff that made it all possible.

"Just two weeks to go so we hope to see you all one more time before then!

"Arigato from Pauline & Koji."

Located in Broadway Market they serve two menus: Tuesday is katsu curry and udon, Wednesday-Saturday is Japanese tapas.

They open for dinner at 18:15.
