Increase in pickpockets and thieves targeting women in Tooting and Balham

The police have addressed the increased cases of pickpocketing happening in Balham and around Tooting Commons.

It has been made aware to residents that thieves are targeting unattended buggies, bags and approaching females.

Officers have confirmed they will be conducting increased foot patrols around the worst areas.

The thieves are reportedly working in groups.

A police spokesperson said: "Please call 999 immediately if you are a victim or see any suspicious persons."
