An iconic Streatham venue has been forced to close due to the need to relocate and the difficulty of the pandemic.
The Hideaway, an award-winning venue on Stanthorpe Road, has been looking to relocate for two years.
A spokesperson said: "The forced closure has coincided with the end of the useful life of our current building, including a roof that could be used to drain pasta.
"We feel that in the current climate, and for at least the remainder of this year it would not be viable to re-open on our existing site, and so we are committing to our relocation plan."
Some Tooting residents have been looking inward to the area and asking if there's a space for The Hideaway here.
One Furzedown resident said: "Sad that another nearby culture space closing- saw some great music in this packed venue.
"Anywhere in #tooting to meet their venue needs?"
The Hideaway first opened in early 2010.
The 250 capacity venue offered nights of jazz, funk and comedy - with British and International artists.
