A brand new episode of 24 Hours in A&E which is based in Tooting will be airing tonight (August 3).

This will be the final one of the series and will focus on family. It will begin at 9pm on Channel 4.

Filmed in the autumn of 2020, the RTS award-winning documentary series returns for a twenty-fourth series following patients treated in the same 24-hour period at St George's in southwest London. The hospital has one of the busiest A&E departments in Britain – a place where stories of life, love and loss unfold every day.

The episode explores strong family bonds, and follows the stories of families who have supported their loved ones through the most challenging times.

70-year-old Jenny is rushed to St George's with a suspected stroke. Doctors must confirm the diagnosis and decide whether she's in time to receive life-changing treatment. Her husband Roy shares the difficult times they've faced together and describes Jenny as the rock of the family, the person who has held them all together.

29-year-old Ronnie has come into St George's Majors with severe lower back pain. Doctors assess whether his pain is due to his kidney stones or something more serious. Ronnie is accompanied by his girlfriend Anneline who reflects on the similarities between Ronnie and her late father.

81-year-old Brian is brought by ambulance to resus with a facial droop and spinal tingling. Doctors must quickly determine whether Brian is showing signs of a stroke or symptoms linked to a pre-existing condition. His daughter Nicola recounts Brian's loving nature as a father and his physical deterioration since the tragic loss of his wife.
