Tooting Bec Road scheme encouraging cycling put on hold due to 'funding'

Plans to change the cycling provision along Tooting Bec Road have been put on hold.

The TfL has said that due to the pandemic it has not been able to run many of its investment programmes, saying that more funds are needed before the works can continue.

A list of changes (outlined in the story) will now have to wait.

Dog show cancelled over fears of parvovirus

A popular dog show hosted by Friends of Tooting Common (FOTC) has been cancelled over fears of parvovirus.

Parvovirus is a disease that can often be fatal for dogs. There have been some cases reported on the common in recent months, meaning the event set to take place on September 11 has been cancelled.

The organisation is undecided as to whether it will be rescheduled.

Any clear sack now allowed for recycling as council admit 'shortages'

A few changes have happened to the recycling system within the borough.

Clear sacks which aren't distributed by the council will now be taken for recycling, this is due to 'shortages', according to Wandsworth Council. There have been a number of complaints from residents in decent weeks about not being able to get sacks.

Elsewhere, 'bulky cardboard' will also be able to be taken by placing it next to your recycling rather than in the sack.

Redundant 'eyesore' BT boxes to be removed from streets

Certain obsolete BT phone boxes will be removed from Tooting and its surrounding areas.

24 will be removed from around the borough, though many will still remain in Tooting.

Read the story to find out which boxes will be removed.

Wandsworth Council also provided us with a comment about the situation.

Unlimited raclette night at Bordelaise

Bordelaise will be hosting an unlimited cheese night at its restaurant.

You pay £25 and get unlimited raclette cheese as well as cured meats, potatoes and gherkins (for an hour and 45 minutes).

Find out where and when in the story.
