A postman has sent a message to the council urging for the safekeeping of the cycle lane in Balham and beyond.

This comes following a high court ruling that The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, and TfL's streetsafe program was 'unlawful' in the manner it treated taxi divers.

Wandsworth Conservatives released a statement welcoming the ruling and said that said the changes to the A24 road were causing 'misery for local residents and businesses.'

The Balham postman says the introduction of cycle lanes has been a 'blessing' for himself and his colleagues.

Glen Shand, Balham postman, said:

"So many motorists totally ignore the person on their bike and sometimes you feel very uncomfortable on the road.

"I really appreciate the safety of these lanes as coming to work at 5.40 am every morning, I now feel more relaxed even if I hear a speeding motorist behind me."

Jo Rigby, Labour Councillor and avid cyclist, told Nub News:

"We must keep our key workers safe.

"They have been working hard, as ever during this pandemic, putting their lives at risk."
