Wandsworth Council has said that Tooting Pocket Park could be finished by the end of August, however, obstacles still stand in the way of its completion.

The council say that they have been delayed for "long periods" due to the non-arrival of certain items from manufacturers that have been affected by Covid-19.

As we reported, the park was being worked on yesterday, although not all parts had arrived with that delivery meaning they are still waiting on the manufacturers.

The new park, located on Mellison Road, will feature a climbing frame, play bridge, stepping logs and a rain garden.

The small stretch of Mellison Road is also to be made one way only to traffic with a cycle contraflow system to encourage cycling.

A spokesman for the council said: "We're hoping it can be ready before the end of this month, but we have been delayed for long periods by the non-arrival of items we've ordered from manufacturers who have been obviously affected by Covid and unfortunately when the climbing frame was finally delivered yesterday it was missing some parts, and until these arrive other aspects of the project can't proceed."
