Get your little ones moving with Mini Athletics in Tooting.

Mini Athletics will be coming to Tooting from Sunday January, 23, and Earlsfield from Saturday January, 22.

Mini Athletics was set up in 2016 by parents Kirk and Clare Bowyer after they decided what they needed for their children, fitness wise, was not available.

Kirk, a strength and conditioning coach and Clare, a primary school teacher, combined their skill set to create a space where children could enhance their athleticism, sporting participation as well as their social and cognitive skills.

Children will join a class depending on their age group; teeny athletes (walking - 2 years), didee athletes (2-3.5 years), little athletes (3.5-5 years), mini athletes (5-7 years), each class is £9.50.

There are taster sessions available at a discounted price of £5.00.

Tooting and Earlsfield will be the first venues to open with all four types of classes, teeny athletes is new and is being introduced nationwide.

There are also plans to run classes mid-week for pre-schoolers.

Speaking to Hannah Danby, co-owner of Mini Athletics SW London, she told Tooting Nub News that there will be a Mini Athletics foundation set up this year to support parents who cannot afford to pay full price for the classes.

Hannah said: "We want to be inclusive for as many children in the local area" and encouraged parents to speak to them if they could not afford the classes.

Each class has a theme and runs for a total of 45 minutes, the content changes every week but the structure stays the same.

Whilst the classes focus on athletics the skills learnt can be applied to any sport and helps young ones develop concentration and social skills.

"Mini Athletics takes children on a fun and imaginative journey, all whilst developing their physical, social and cognitive skills. These skills can then be used in a wide range of sports throughout life. We are on a mission to get the children of SW London active, having fun and developing a lifelong thirst for sport," said Hannah and Catherine Ward, co-owners of Mini Athletics SW London.
