Tooting Market's Manager has spoken to Nub News about their need for residents to support them over the upcoming months.

The iconic market, which features a number of independent eateries and retailers, has been able to remain open throughout the second national lockdown.

Baron Deschauer, Tooting Market's Manager, told Nub News. "As we endure a second lockdown our traders are relying on the support of our valued customers more than ever."

All eateries are available for in-person takeaways and deliveries, retailers are operating on a click/call and collection basis.

Vbelly, a popular vegan eatery situated in Tooting Market, told Nub News:

"We're operating our usual hours, twelve until ten everyday. You can order through our website for click and collect or the usual delivery services.

"We thank all of our loyal locals in supporting us as part of the wider small business network."

Baron continued: "We ask our customers to support in any way they can, big or small - such as doing their weekly grocery shop at the Market, buying a regular takeaway from their favourite vendor or shopping for their Christmas presents with our retailers.

"Sadly our hair and beauty venues, along with our gym have had to close during this period, so we ask our customers to give them lots of support once they reopen in December."

Tooting Market's art shop unfortunately also had to close due to coronavirus restrictions.

Love Art will continue to run their toddler workshops inside the premises and push sales on their website and instagram.

Co-owner Claire Rudkin spoke to Nub News about having to close their store: "I think we all knew it was inevitable but I didn't think it would be all shops again.

Baron added: "Continued support from our customers is so vital to not only keep the Market going during Lockdown two but importantly allow it to thrive afterwards."
