Coronavirus cases are on the rise in Wandsworth, but there is still a far lower infection rate than the majority of the UK, recent data confirms.
According to the latest statistics (October 8 - October 14), there are currently 838 people with the virus within Wandsworth Borough - 27 more than the week leading up to October 8.
Overall, this means there has been a small increase of 3.3 per cent, with there being an infection rate of 254.1 per 100,000 people in the borough as per the Gov.uk website.
Meanwhile, the rates in the rest of the UK are on the rise. For the whole of England the current rate per 100,000 is 436.2, meaning it's considerably lower in Wandsworth. For the UK altogher, the average is 434.6 per 100,000, with a total of 291,518 recorded cases at the moment.
Furzedown West is the local area that has seen the biggest increase of cases , with 14 new positive tests taking its overall total to 41 (51.1 per cent increase). 472.2 people for every 100,000 have the virus in that area.
Wandsworth has a higher infection rate than the London average, but only marginally. The London rate is 242.4 per 100,000 people, with a total of 21,822 cases in the capital.
