Tooting Broadway: person dies after being hit by a train

Emergency services were called to Tooting Broadway Underground station just after 16:30 today (Wednesday February, 2) after reports of an injured person.

A person has died after they were hit by a train on the London Underground's Northern Line.

London Ambulance Service attended with a number of crews but despite their best efforts, the person died at the scene.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called at 4:33pm today (February, 2) to reports of a person injured by a train at Tooting Broadway Station, Tooting.

"We sent an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a car, members of our hazardous area response team and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London's Air Ambulance.

"Sadly, a person died at the scene."

Tooting MP Dr Rosena Allin-Khan also tweeted: "Tragic news coming from Tooting Broadway station this evening. My thoughts are with the person involved and their loved ones."
