It's been a long-time coming, but the all-new McDonald's vegan burger is available in branches near Tooting now.

McDonald's introduced The McPlant to British and Irish customers in 250 restaurants last week, having spent three years on research and development.

The McPlant is made up of a plant-based patty McDonald's co-developed with Beyond Meat, served in a sesame seed bun, with ketchup, mustard, onions, pickles, lettuce, tomato and vegan cheese.

The plant-based burger is cooked separately from meat-based McDonald's burgers using dedicated utensils and is fully accredited as vegan by the Vegetarian Society to ensure it meets the highest vegan standards.

While it won't be launching in Tooting until next year, you can get your hands on one in Balham.

The McPlant is available elsewhere in south west London, including McDonald's restaurants in Brixton, Clapham and Wandsworth.

It will be available nationwide from January 2022.
