AN HISTORIC FAMILY PUB IN TOOTING which has served the community for over twenty years is ecstatic to be back open again after the second lockdown forced it closed.
James (Jimmy) Crowe, landlord of the freehold Ramble Inn pub, has told Nub News that he is thankful for the community's support through an 'extremely challenging' year.
Tier 2 restrictions mean pubs can only serve alcohol if they are able to provide a 'substantial meal'.
The Ramble Inn has had to buy new fridges and other equipment to make sure they are able to provide an acceptable level of food.
Jimmy Crowe told Nub News: "It hasn't been easy but we take these restrictions extremely seriously.
"Many of our regulars are part of the elderly community in Tooting and we want to make sure they're feeling safe and secure in our pub."
The Ramble Inn now offers meals such as jacket potatoes, pies and more for just three pound.
"We're conscious that money is tight for everyone at the moment," Jimmy continued.
"Our pub is a place for many people who live alone, it's their place to socialise and speak to friends they haven't seen in months.
"We want to make it as accessible as possible."
Many regulars who frequent Ramble Inn do not feel comfortable to return to hospitality yet.
Jimmy added: "Our pub will be there for them when they feel confident enough, it's a scary time for so many people.
"We have had calls from a lot of our regulars saying that they'll come back when they feel safer - and that's okay."
